The piano competition in a nutshell

The Cantabile piano competition is organised every two years in the odd-numbered years, with the next competition to be held in spring 2025.

There are three age categories, with the maximum age (not reached on 1 January 2025) being

  • 13 years for Category A,
  • 16 years for Category B,
  • 19 years for Category C

Currently, you cannot yet register for the 2025 piano competition. You can read the rules of the competition below. Be sure to take a look at the Retrospect page, or drop by at one of our Concerts.

Objective and focus

The competition not only gives young pianists (and their teachers) a goal to work towards but also gives them a chance to showcase themselves to a wider audience. They meet in a shared passion, which also makes it an unforgettable and instructive experience. Laureates and finalists also get the chance to perform on various stages in Flanders, both solo and in chamber music (see our annual review, among others).

And of course, also at Cantabile, participating is more important than winning!

Rules

We are currently revising the rules for the piano competition. Once the new rules are ready, they will appear here. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please send an e-mail to piano@cantabilewedstrijd.be.
